Heat Sensitive Dyes, Pressure Sensitive Dyes — this collection brings together leuco compounds such as fluoran derivatives, crystal violet lactone, and leuco methylene blue that change color due to changes in heat or mechanical pressure. This group serves as functional dye materials that respond to physical stimuli.

These compounds are used by functional materials researchers and developers of thermal paper and carbonless copy paper to produce color changes when exposed to heat from thermal print heads or mechanical pressure from a pen or stylus.
