Photo-reactive Crosslinkers — contains crosslinking reagents bearing photoreactive groups such as trifluoromethyl diazirine and aryl azide, which are stable in the dark but form short-lived reactive species when irradiated with UV light. These reactive groups enable covalent bond formation precisely at the molecular contact point during irradiation.

These photo-reactive crosslinkers are used by chemical biology researchers for mapping protein-protein or protein-ligand interactions through photoaffinity labeling, where crosslinks form only when the sample is irradiated with UV light at the desired time and location. Benzophenone and diazirine derivatives are often conjugated to ligands or probes before use in binding studies in cells or in vitro.
