Ossila P3HT batch M108 is regioregular poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (CAS 104934-50-1), a widely studied low-bandgap polymer donor used in organic photovoltaics, polymer solar cells, OLEDs and organic field-effect transistors. This 1 g pack has a regioregularity of 94.2%, an Mw of 36,010, an Mn of 13,340 and a PDI of 2.7.
The polymer dissolves readily at 50 mg/ml in chlorinated solvents including chloroform, chlorobenzene, dichlorobenzene and trichlorobenzene. As an intermediate molecular weight grade, it is also suggested for non-chlorinated solvents such as xylene, toluene and THF, where its higher solubility is an advantage.
Lower molecular weight and regioregularity P3HT grades are suited to inkjet printing and other large-area or slow-drying deposition methods, where gelling, aggregation and surface roughness must be kept under control. With HOMO at -5.2 eV and LUMO at -3.2 eV, P3HT is often treated as a benchmark p-type material for evaluating new donor molecules. The material is intended for R&D use only.
- Donor polymer in organic photovoltaic and polymer solar cell research.
- Active semiconducting layer in organic field-effect transistors (OFETs).
- Research on OLED devices.
- Inkjet and other large-area or slow-drying deposition processes where gelling and surface roughness must be avoided.
- Reference p-type material for comparing new donor conjugated molecules.
