Ossila C153-100 oval magnetic stir bars are coated in virgin PTFE and shaped for effective mixing in small vessels. The oval profile suits 2 mL and 4 mL vials as well as round-bottom flasks, where flat-sided bars can struggle to turn smoothly.

Because the coating is PTFE, the bars resist a broad range of solvents, making them a practical choice for controlled stirring in low-volume reactions. This product code corresponds to the 8 mm diameter, 20 mm long size; the range also includes 3 mm (C152) and 6 mm (C151) diameter versions.

After suitable cleaning the bars can be used again. For very sensitive work, a new bar helps avoid carry-over contamination, and critical reactions may benefit from a bar reserved only for that purpose.

  • Stirring solutions in 2 mL and 4 mL vials.
  • Mixing reactions in round-bottom flasks.
  • Precise stirring of low-volume reactions involving organic solvents.
  • Routine solution preparation on a magnetic stirrer.

  • Product code: C153-100
  • Product code: C153
  • Shape: Oval
  • Coating: Virgin PTFE
  • Diameter: 8 mm
  • Length: 20 mm
  • Suitable vessels: 2 mL and 4 mL vials, round-bottom flasks
  • Other sizes: C152: 3 mm x 6 mm; C151: 6 mm x 10 mm

Confirm that PTFE is compatible with the intended solvent before use. Use a fresh stir bar for highly sensitive reactions to avoid contamination, and consider dedicating a bar to specific critical reactions. Otherwise, clean the bars appropriately before reuse.
