The Ossila Reference Solar Cell (G3100A1) is a compact irradiance meter built around a calibrated silicon photodiode, used to check and calibrate solar simulators in photovoltaic testing labs. Its built-in display shows live irradiance readings from 0 to 125 mW/cm2, so users can confirm 1 Sun illumination at a glance.
A spectral flattening filter covering 400 - 1100 nm keeps the reading at 100 mW/cm2 under 1 Sun regardless of whether the light comes from an LED, xenon or other arc lamp source. Accuracy is better than 0.1 mW/cm2 at 25 °C, with precision of ± 0.005 mW/cm2 (1σ) and low thermal drift.
The unit runs from a USB port on a computer, laptop or power source, with no separate power supply required. Irradiance and temperature data can also be read over USB for automated logging and control. Each unit ships with a USB-C to USB-A cable, rubber feet and a USB drive holding its calibration certificate and QC test data.
- Calibrating solar simulators to 1 Sun (100 mW/cm2) illumination.
- Periodically checking solar simulator output as lamp spectra change over time.
- Verifying irradiance across different photovoltaic test setups and light sources such as LED and xenon lamps.
- Logging irradiance and temperature data over USB during solar cell characterization.
