The Ossila Tunable LED Light Source (G3006A1) supplies variable monochromatic light anywhere from 380 to 1000 nm, settable to better than 1 nm accuracy. It pairs a high-power broadband LED with a grating monochromator in a crossed Czerny-Turner layout, making it a compact excitation source for custom-built spectroscopy setups.

Wavelength can be set through Ossila's free software or with simple serial commands, so the output can be matched to a sample's excitation needs in absorbance and fluorescence work. Rapid scanning of up to 1000 nm/s lets users sweep the visible range to locate excitation maxima or record spectra. The unit fits standard optical rail systems and takes little space on an optics bench.

Compared with tungsten, xenon or deuterium-tungsten lamps, the LED source has a much longer lifetime, minimal warm-up and cool-down time and fewer hazards, which keeps maintenance simple. Unlike fixed-wavelength lasers, it offers the specificity of a single-emission source across a broad spectral range.
