The Ossila C2017A1 is a 50 ml borosilicate glass photoelectrochemical cell built for photoelectric effect experiments using either a two or three electrode setup. Its screw-fit PTFE lid carries inlets for a working, counter and reference electrode, along with two gas inlets.
A JS2 quartz optical window, 29 mm in diameter, lets light reach the sample and allows photocatalytic reactions to be watched in situ. The cell holds 65 ml when filled above the window, 80 ml to the thread and 100 ml when full.
These cells work on a semiconductor–electrolyte interface. The working electrode (photoanode) is typically an n- or p-type semiconductor, such as a polymer semiconductor on an ITO/FTO substrate held in a platinum plate electrode holder, while the counter electrode may be platinum or platinum free. The package includes a Luggin capillary and gas bubbler, electrode and gas inlet adaptors, PTFE stoppers, tubing, tape and spare O-rings. A 100 ml version (C2017B1) is also offered.
- Two or three electrode photoelectric effect studies.
- In-situ observation of photocatalytic reactions through the quartz window.
- Testing n- or p-type semiconductor photoanodes on ITO/FTO substrates.
- Photoelectrochemical experiments requiring gas purging via the gas inlets and bubbler.
