The Ossila C2015A1 is a non-aqueous Ag/Ag+ reference electrode designed for cyclic voltammetry and related electrochemical measurements where water must be kept out of the system. It suits experiments in which moisture would contaminate the bulk reaction or is incompatible with the chosen electrolyte, making it a dependable non-aqueous counterpart to aqueous Ag/AgCl reference electrodes.
Inside the electrode, a silver wire sits in direct contact with a 0.01M silver nitrate solution in acetonitrile, which is supplied separately by the user. The electrode is sealed with a ceramic frit junction, and a detachable white cap holds the wire in place within the glass body. This construction makes it a natural choice whenever organic solvents such as acetonitrile form part of the electrolyte.
The electrode is offered as a single unit or in packs of 5 or 10, and a non-aqueous electrode of this type also forms part of Ossila's non-aqueous electrochemical cell kits.
- Serving as the reference electrode in cyclic voltammetry with non-aqueous electrolytes.
- Electrochemical studies using moisture-sensitive electrolytes where water contamination must be avoided.
- Measurements in electrolytes based on organic solvents such as acetonitrile.
