The Ossila C2014A1 is a platinum wire counter electrode, also called an auxiliary electrode, made for standard electrochemistry cells. It is a common choice for cyclic voltammetry, linear sweep voltammetry and a range of other electrochemical methods.
The wire is 99.99% purity platinum held in a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) plastic body. Platinum is chosen for this role because it withstands oxidation, solvents and acids, and it behaves as an inert electrode with low catalytic activity, which makes it an industry-standard option for completing the circuit in a three-electrode setup.
Its standard shape lets it fit easily into typical electrochemical cells. The electrode is offered as a single piece, in a pack of 5 or in a pack of 10, and it is also included in Ossila electrochemical cell kits.
- Serving as the counter (auxiliary) electrode in cyclic voltammetry measurements.
- Completing the cell circuit during linear sweep voltammetry.
- Use in standard electrochemistry cells for other electrochemical techniques.
- Work in electrochemical setups involving solvents or acidic media, where oxidation, solvent and acid resistance is required.
