The Ossila Electrochemical Cell Kit with Electrodes (C2016A1) brings together an electrochemical cell and electrodes, including a platinum wire counter electrode, for building a complete setup for voltammetry experiments.
The counter electrode, also called an auxiliary electrode, is a common choice in standard electrochemistry cells used for cyclic voltammetry, linear sweep voltammetry and other electrochemical methods. Its platinum wire, at 99.99% purity, withstands oxidation, solvents and acids, and behaves as an inert electrode with low catalytic activity.
The wire is held in a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) plastic body with a standard shape that fits readily into electrochemical cells.
- Running cyclic voltammetry measurements in a standard electrochemical cell.
- Performing linear sweep voltammetry experiments.
- Serving as the counter (auxiliary) electrode in other electrochemical techniques.
- Working in setups that expose the electrode to solvents, acids or oxidising conditions.
