The C2016B1 kit pairs a three-electrode glass electrochemical cell with a Luggin capillary (Luggin probe) and a full set of electrodes. The capillary holds the reference electrode bridge close to the working electrode, reducing uncompensated solution resistance and improving the accuracy of potential measurements.
The curved salt bridge tip lets ions pass while keeping the reference solution separate from the bulk electrolyte. A gas inlet fitted with a bubble filter allows inert gas to be introduced without gas shock or bubbling in the solution. The 50 ml glass body is closed with a screw-fit PTFE lid carrying POM feedthroughs for three electrodes, a detachable gas bubbler inlet, a gas outlet and a movable Luggin pocket bridge.
Electrodes supplied with the kit are a platinum disc working electrode, a platinum wire counter electrode and a reference electrode, either aqueous AgCl or non-aqueous Ag/Ag+.
- Three-electrode electrochemical measurements requiring accurate control of working electrode potential.
- Experiments where uncompensated solution resistance between working and reference electrodes must be minimised.
- Electrochemistry under inert gas, purged through the filtered gas bubbler inlet.
- Measurements in aqueous or non-aqueous electrolytes using the matching reference electrode option.

The curved salt bridge tip of the Luggin capillary may deteriorate in strongly acidic or basic electrolytes; in such conditions, use the reference electrode directly without the Luggin capillary.
