The Ossila Luggin capillary electrochemical cell kit (C2016B1/C2016D1) brings together a 50 ml glass cell and a full three-electrode set, so an electrochemistry experiment can be assembled from a single package. The working electrode is a platinum disc with a 2 mm disc diameter, the counter electrode is a platinum wire, and the reference electrode is supplied as either an aqueous AgCl or a non-aqueous Ag/Ag+ type.
The Luggin capillary design reduces potential errors, which supports highly accurate potential measurements. This makes the kit well suited to cyclic voltammetry, electrolysis and other electrochemical studies. The cell is fitted with POM inlets in a screw-fit PTFE lid and works with the wider Ossila range of electrodes.
The curved salt bridge tip of the Luggin capillary can deteriorate in strongly acidic or basic electrolytes; under those conditions, using the reference electrode directly without the Luggin capillary is recommended.
- Cyclic voltammetry measurements using a three-electrode configuration.
- Electrolysis experiments in a 50 ml glass cell.
- Electrochemical studies requiring highly accurate potential measurements with minimized potential errors.
- Measurements in aqueous or non-aqueous systems by selecting the matching reference electrode.
