The Ossila Spin Coater Standard V3 (L2001A3) is a compact, vacuum-free bench instrument for depositing uniform thin films on substrates up to 100 mm (4") in diameter. It needs no vacuum line, only a single mains socket, so it can run on an open bench, inside a fume hood or within a glove box.

Instead of holding substrates by suction, the smart chuck keeps them flat and drains excess solution away, avoiding the warping that vacuum seal rings can cause on thin or flexible substrates. A rimmed edge improves airflow uniformity and limits solvent build-up in the bowl, while simplified drainage channels add mechanical stability. The supplied multi-substrate chuck fits the four most common substrate sizes, and custom chucks can be made for other geometries.

The Standard model spins from 120 – 6,000 rpm with <2% speed error and spin times of 1 – 1,000 sec. Its control system stores 10 user profiles, each with 10 programs of up to 50 steps, which suits shared labs. A built-in spirit level and adjustable feet help set a flat spinning axis, and a magnetic door switch adds safety.
