The Ossila Automatic Film Applicator with vacuum bed is a motorised coating system that drives your applicator across the substrate at a programmed speed. It works with Mayer bars, blade coaters and gap applicators, as well as Sheen, Baker and Bird applicators, so several coating methods can be run on one instrument.
Stage speed can be set anywhere from 0.05 mm.s -1 to 250 mm.s -1 in 0.01 mm.s -1 steps, letting you match the movement to the applicator and the viscosity of the solution for smooth, defect-free films. Coatings up to 225 mm wide can be produced over a 290 mm (A4) travel length.
This version uses an anodized aluminum vacuum stage with 0.8 mm holes on a square grid at 7.75 mm spacing, which holds flexible or foil substrates firmly in place, and the grid layout makes it easy to define the vacuum area to suit the sample. A quick-lock magnetic design lets the stage and drip tray be removed for cleaning between runs.
