This Ossila Bar Coater kit pairs the Automatic Film Applicator with a vacuum-bed stage, the Ossila Vacuum Pump and a set of 16 wire-wound Mayer bars. It is built for laboratory-scale film optimization, producing uniform large-area coatings with repeatable wet film thicknesses from 6 µm to 200 µm.
The applicator drives the bar at programmable speeds between 0.05 and 250 mm.s-1 in 0.01 mm.s-1 steps, keeping pressure and speed consistent from run to run. Its stage travels up to 290 mm (A4) and supports coating widths up to 225 mm, accepting Mayer bars from 220 mm to 255 mm long. A quick lock design simplifies cleaning of the stage and drip tray between coatings.
The anodized aluminum vacuum stage, connected to the pump (maximum vacuum 330 mbar, 7 L/min maximum flow), holds flexible and foil substrates still, flat and level, which is essential for defect-free films. The system also works with other coating accessories such as blade coaters, Sheen applicators and Bird applicators.

Clean the substrate and bar before coating, as dirt or debris can cause defects across the whole film. Hold the substrate firmly in place and use a spirit level to keep the machine level in all directions for uniform coating.
