This Ossila automatic doctor blade coater is a benchtop film applicator for producing uniform thin films over large areas. This version pairs a 200 mm adjustable applicator with a vacuum bed that holds the substrate evenly across its full surface, making it well suited to flexible substrates, foils and polymer films.
The adjustable applicator is made of 304 stainless steel for coating materials that need higher chemical resistance. Digital micrometer gauges set the gap height between 0 and 10 mm with 1 µm resolution and 3 µm accuracy. The blade is calibrated to the gauge zero position for more reproducible results. Built-in software sets the stage speed from 0.05 mm.s-1 to 250 mm.s-1 in 0.01 mm.s-1 steps, so the speed can be matched to a wide range of solution viscosities.
The stage travels up to 290 mm. A quick lock design makes it easy to clean the stage and drip tray between coatings. The system also works with Mayer bars, Sheen applicators and Bird applicators, which are sold separately.

The quick lock design allows the stage and drip tray to be removed easily for cleaning between different coatings. For flexible or foil substrates, use the vacuum bed with a vacuum pump to keep the substrate still and level during coating.
