This Ossila automatic doctor blade coater is supplied with a vacuum bed and a custom-width adjustable film applicator, chosen between 50 mm and 200 mm. It is designed for depositing uniform thin films over large areas, including on flexible substrates, foils and polymer films.
The applicator is built from 304 stainless steel, suitable for coating materials that need higher chemical resistance. Digital micrometer gauges with 1 µm resolution set the gap height anywhere from 0 to 10 mm, and the blade is calibrated to the gauge zero position for reproducible results. Coating speed is set through the integrated software from 0.05 mm.s-1 to 250 mm.s-1 in 0.01 mm.s-1 steps, allowing a wide range of solution viscosities to be handled.
The anodized aluminum vacuum stage holds the substrate evenly across its whole area, keeping flexible substrates flat and still. Stage travel reaches 290 mm, and a quick lock design makes cleaning the stage and drip tray simple. The system also accepts Mayer rods, Sheen applicators and Bird applicators, available separately.
