This Ossila automatic doctor blade coater is a benchtop film applicator for producing uniform thin films over large areas. This configuration pairs a 100 mm adjustable applicator with a vacuum bed and the Ossila Vacuum Pump, making it well suited to holding flexible substrates, foils and polymer films flat during coating.
The 304 stainless steel applicator uses digital micrometer gauges with 1 µm resolution, letting you set the blade gap anywhere from 0 to 10 mm. The blade is calibrated to the gauge zero point for reproducible results. Coating speed is set through the integrated software between 0.05 mm.s-1 and 250 mm.s-1 in 0.01 mm.s-1 steps, so the process can be matched to a wide range of solution viscosities across a 290 mm travel length.
The anodized aluminum vacuum stage holds the substrate evenly across its whole area, while the pump delivers up to 330 mbar vacuum and 7 L/min flow. A quick lock design simplifies cleaning of the stage and drip tray, and the system also accepts Mayer bars, Sheen applicators and Bird applicators.
