This Ossila automatic doctor blade coater is a benchtop film applicator for producing uniform thin films in research labs. This configuration pairs a 200 mm stainless steel applicator with a vacuum stage and the Ossila Vacuum Pump, a combination suited to holding flexible or foil substrates flat during coating.
The adjustable applicator is made from 304 stainless steel, which suits materials that need higher chemical resistance. Digital micrometer gauges set the gap height between 0 and 10 mm with 1 µm resolution, and the blade is calibrated to the gauge zero position for reproducible results. Coating speed is set through the integrated software from 0.05 mm.s-1 to 250 mm.s-1 in 0.01 mm.s-1 steps, so the process can be matched to a wide range of solution viscosities.
The stage travels up to 290 mm, and the anodized aluminum vacuum bed holds the substrate evenly across its area. The pump reaches a maximum vacuum of 330 mbar with a 7 L/min maximum flow rate. A quick lock design simplifies cleaning of the stage and drip tray, and the system also accepts Mayer bars, Sheen applicators and Bird applicators, sold separately.
