This Ossila automatic doctor blade coater is configured with a custom-width applicator, a vacuum bed and the Ossila Vacuum Pump. It is built for laboratories that need repeatable, uniform thin films over large areas, including on flexible substrates, foils and polymer films.
The adjustable film applicator is made of 304 stainless steel, suitable for materials that demand higher chemical resistance, and can be specified in widths from 50 mm to 200 mm. Digital micrometer gauges with 1 µm resolution set the gap height anywhere from 0 to 10 mm, and the blade is calibrated to the gauge zero for better reproducibility. Stage speed is set in software from 0.05 mm.s-1 to 250 mm.s-1 in 0.01 mm.s-1 steps over a travel length of up to 290 mm, letting users match the speed to solution viscosity.
The anodized aluminium vacuum stage holds the substrate evenly across its surface, while the pump, rated at 330 mbar maximum vacuum and 7 L/min maximum flow, keeps flexible or foil substrates flat and still. A quick lock design simplifies cleaning of the stage and drip tray, and the system also accepts Mayer bars, Sheen applicators and Bird applicators.
