The Ossila Doctor Blade Coater is an automatic film applicator for producing uniform thin films. This version pairs a 100 mm wide adjustable stainless steel applicator with a glass stage made of 8 mm toughened glass carrying a printed grid pattern.
Film thickness is set through the applicator's digital micrometer gauges, which allow gap heights from 0 to 10 mm with 1 µm resolution and 3 µm accuracy. The blade is calibrated to the micrometer's zero position, helping coatings stay reproducible. Stage speed is set in the integrated software anywhere between 0.05 mm.s-1 and 250 mm.s-1 in 0.01 mm.s-1 steps, so the process can be matched to solutions of different viscosities.
The stage travels up to 290 mm, and a quick lock design makes it simple to clean the stage and drip tray between runs. The 304 stainless steel applicator suits materials that need higher chemical resistance, and the system also accepts Mayer rods, Sheen applicators and Bird applicators, which are sold separately.
