The Ossila Doctor Blade Coater is an automatic film applicator for producing uniform thin films in research labs. This version pairs the motorised stage with an 8 mm toughened glass bed carrying a printed grid, and a 304 stainless steel adjustable applicator built to a custom coating width between 50 mm and 200 mm.
The applicator's digital micrometer gauges set the blade gap anywhere from 0 to 10 mm with 1 µm resolution and 3 µm accuracy. The blade is calibrated to the gauge's zero point, which helps coatings stay reproducible from run to run. Through the integrated software, stage speed can be set from 0.05 mm.s -1 to 250 mm.s -1 in 0.01 mm.s -1 steps, so the process can be tuned to solutions of different viscosities.
The stage travels up to 290 mm. A quick lock design makes the stage and drip tray easy to clean between coatings. Beyond the doctor blade, the system also accepts Mayer rods, Sheen applicators and Bird applicators, which are sold separately.
