These Ossila substrates are microscope-slide format glass pieces, 25 mm x 75 mm, carrying an unpatterned coating of indium tin oxide (ITO) around 100 nm thick. The continuous conductive, transparent layer makes them a practical base for experiments that need an electrically connected yet optically clear surface, supplied in a pack of 100.
The base material is polished soda lime float glass, 1.1 mm thick, coated with fully oxidized ITO. The film has a quoted sheet resistance of 20 Ω.□ -1, with measured values of 14 - 20 Ω.□ -1 using the Ossila Four-Point Probe System. Surfaces are very smooth: AFM gives 1 nm RMS for the glass and 1.8 nm RMS for the ITO layer.
Typical uses include scanning probe microscopy such as STM and conductive AFM, spectroscopic studies, and electropolymerization work.
- Serving as a conductive, flat substrate for scanning tunneling microscopy (STM).
- Supporting samples for conductive atomic force microscopy (AFM) measurements.
- Providing a transparent conductive base for spectroscopy experiments.
- Acting as a working electrode surface for electropolymerization.
