Description
TCI D3710 9-Decyn-1-ol is a long-chain alcohol containing ten carbon atoms, carrying a primary hydroxyl group at one end and a terminal triple bond at the other. In the laboratory, this compound serves as a bifunctional building block, meaning a starting material that bears two different functional groups at widely separated positions so that each may be reacted independently. Its role is prominent in the synthesis of long-chain molecules, molecular linkers, insect pheromones, modified lipids, and marker compounds for chemical biology, because the long methylene chain acts as a flexible spacer between the two reactive ends.
