TCI B6494, Boc-DL-Phg-OH (CAS 3601-66-9), is racemic phenylglycine protected with a tert-butoxycarbonyl group at the amino position. With the aryl ring attached directly to the alpha carbon, phenylglycine offers greater conformational rigidity than phenylalanine and a well-documented tendency toward racemisation during coupling. This makes the DL form especially useful as a reference standard for chiral chromatography method development, coupling condition evaluation, and kinetic resolution studies, in addition to routine peptide synthesis.
