TCI B6753 Benzyltetrahydrothiophenium Hexafluoroantimonate is a sulfonium salt that pairs a benzyltetrahydrothiophenium cation with a weakly nucleophilic hexafluoroantimonate counter-anion. On activation it releases a strong acid, which makes it useful as a latent initiator for cationic ring-opening polymerisation of epoxides, oxetanes, and vinyl ethers. Formulators study such salts in one-component coating, adhesive, and energy-triggered curing systems where amine hardeners are undesirable. AMI Scientific supplies this TCI polymerisation reagent in two research package sizes; store it cool, dark, and tightly closed as directed on the product label.
