Dicyandiamide (CAS 461-58-5) from TCI, also known as 2-cyanoguanidine, is a nitrogen-rich crystalline solid widely used as a latent curing agent for epoxy resins. Its low solubility at ambient temperature keeps formulations stable for long periods, while heating dissolves it and rapidly triggers cure — a property valued in prepregs, structural adhesives, and one-component coatings. It also serves as a precursor for guanidine and melamine derivatives and as a nitrogen source for graphitic carbon nitride and nitrogen-doped carbon materials.
