Description
Benzyl Cinnamate (TCI C0358, CAS 103-41-3) is the benzyl ester of cinnamic acid and a naturally occurring component of several balsam resins. As a building block it combines an ester group, a conjugated double bond, and a benzyl handle within one molecule. It is frequently used as a Michael acceptor, as a substrate for conjugate addition, and as a model compound in benzyl-ester hydrogenolysis studies.
