4-Nitrobenzyl Chloroformate (TCI C1077, CAS 4457-32-3) is a widely used reagent for installing the p-nitrobenzyloxycarbonyl (pNZ) protecting group on amines in peptide chemistry. Because the pNZ group is removed under reductive conditions, it provides valuable orthogonality against acid- and base-labile protecting groups. AMI Scientific supplies this TCI reagent in a 25 g pack size suited to research and development laboratories. As a moisture-sensitive and corrosive chloroformate, it should be handled in a fume hood following the official TCI Safety Data Sheet.
