4-Nitrobenzyl Chloroformate (TCI C1077, CAS 4457-32-3) is a widely used reagent for installing the p-nitrobenzyloxycarbonyl (pNZ) protecting group on amines in peptide chemistry. Because the pNZ group is removed under reductive conditions, it provides valuable orthogonality against acid- and base-labile protecting groups.
