TCI C0795 2,2,2-Trichloroethyl Chloroformate (CAS 17341-93-4) is the standard reagent for introducing the Troc protecting group onto amines and alcohols. Troc protection is valued for its orthogonality, since it can be removed reductively — typically with zinc — without disturbing acid- or base-labile protecting groups. The reagent is also used to prepare carbamates and carbonates in carbohydrate, peptide, and natural product synthesis.
