Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) Film Forming Reagents — includes long-chain amphiphilic compounds such as alkynyl alcohols and acids, as well as reactive silyl-acetylene derivatives, capable of forming ordered monomolecular layers at the air-water interface for the fabrication of Langmuir-Blodgett films and self-assembled materials.
These LB film forming reagents are used by materials and nanotechnology researchers to assemble ordered thin layers on solid substrates, supporting studies of the electronic, optical, or surface properties of two-dimensional materials. Compounds with terminal alkyne groups, such as trimethylsilylacetylene, are also useful as building blocks for further modification through coupling reactions before the formation of monomolecular layers.
