Collection: Metabolomics

Metabolomics — gathers endogenous metabolites such as fatty acids, sterols, and lipid glycerides that represent major metabolic pathways, including metabolic libraries and compounds that serve as markers of lipid and energy metabolism pathways. This collection of compounds serves as models and structural references for mapping changes in metabolite profiles within a biological system.

Metabolomics is used by cell biology and biochemistry researchers as in vitro test materials to build reference libraries for metabolomics-based LC-MS or GC-MS analysis, and to study lipid metabolic pathways such as the synthesis and hydrolysis of triglycerides, cholesterol esters, and unsaturated fatty acids. Compounds such as stearic acid and cholesterol linoleate are commonly used as reference points for peak identification in lipid metabolite profiling.

Example products in this collection: TCI S0163 57-11-4 Stearic Acid, TCI C0005 50-14-6 Calciferol, TCI L0050 463-40-1 Linolenic Acid, TCI C0318 57-88-5 Cholesterol (stabilized with alpha-Tocopherol), TCI G0089 122-32-7 Triolein, TCI C0321 604-33-1 Cholesterol Linoleate, TCI G0082 111-03-5 Monoolein, TCI C0322 601-34-3 Cholesterol Palmitate.

Pay attention to the purity and stability of the compounds (for example, the need for antioxidant stabilizers in sterols), as well as the suitability of the compound for the metabolic pathway or analytical platform that is the focus of the research. All products are genuine Tokyo Chemical Industry (TCI) Japan products, with purity, packaging, and storage conditions listed on each item's page.
